출근길에 원인불명의 극심한 스트레스를 느끼고 Pantera와 Metallica의 음악을 풀 볼륨으로 청취하며 이동했다.
하지만 역시 내 고막도 노쇠해졌는지 그들의 음악을 한 곡, 한 곡 들을 때마다 피로감만 쌓이는 것이 아닌가?
그래서 이리저리 플레이리스트를 살피다가 반가운 앨범을 한 장 발견했다.
고딩시절 우연히 접하고는 CD플레이어에서 무한 반복 재생을 했던 음반 브라이언 아담스(Bryan Adams)의 [Waking Up The Neighbours]였다.
이 앨범은 고교 당시 더 쎈 음악, 더 빠른 음악만 추구하던 나에게 신선한 충격을 주는 앨범이었다.
일렉트릭 기타라는 악기가 헤비하고 공격적이기만 한 악기가 아니라 얼마든지 경쾌하고 신나게 연주할 수 있다는 것을 깨닫게 해 준 고마운 앨범.
앨범 전체가 다 마음에 들지만, 특히 지금 소개할 'House Arrest'라는 곡의 인트로 리프는 언제 들어도 질리지 않고 신난다.
노래 제목도 요즘같은 코로나 대혼란 시기에 어울리기도 하고...(예전 KBS에서 브라이언 아담스의 다큐멘터리를 방영한 적이 있었는데 이 곡 타이틀을 '가택연금'이라 번역했었다)
반가운 마음에 오늘 오랜만에 이 앨범을 두 번 반복 청취하고, 어느 정도 기분이 진정되었다고나 할까?
아무튼 정말 멋진 음반이다.
